We are counting down to the great Masquerade!!!  It is going to be an amazing time with all of your dancers performing their hearts out on stage! Our students have been working, learning, stretching and turning for 10 months all leading up to this big day.  Make sure you have your costume and all accessories together, check your recital pack and verify the kind of tights and shoes your child needs for recital.  If you need tights/shoes you can order them at the studio but do it quick or they won't be here in time!

Recital hair and accessories!!!
Posted by Nikki Wintters
Make sure you know how your child's hair should be done for recital.  Left part low bun, high bun, low pony, pig tails, ear bun, there are just so many ways to do a dancers hair and it is all a part of the costume and dance....so YES it does matter!!  If you need to get your child's hair into a bun there are few products out there that really work.  As for recital hair it needs to stay put and here are our tips!
You do not need to wash hair before but damp hair is sometimes easier to work with.  Apply hair gel generously to entire perimeter of head.  Comb back into a pony smoothing hair as you go.  A low ponytail makes a low bun, and so on for sides and high.  Be sure to gel to where the hair line meets the skin.  Gel back her bangs also.  If your dancer has enough hair then you will want to braid her ponytail and wrap it into a bun.  If you do not have enough hair to braid then just swirl it into a bun.  Slide a few hair pins into the bun to hold it in place.  Next cover the bun with a hair net(match the color to your child's hair), twist and cover again until the net is tights.  Finally place hair pins around the entire perimeter of the bun, sliding them under the ponytail holder to lock them into place.
Practice practice practice!!!!  Do not wait until picture day or recital day to do this!!  Practice and if you are not successful feel free to ask for more tips from your teachers and staff at DCW we are always willing to lend a helping hand!!
